EDWARD BUCHANAN X KATIE NEHRA - S2 EPISODE 1
Edward Buchanan
Based in Milan for the past two decades, Edward Buchanan is no stranger to Italian Fashion. Born in Ohio, the designer started early and on a high note. A graduate from Parsons School of Design, Buchanan’s career took off immediately when he got hired on the spot by the Moltedo family, former owners of Bottega Veneta. He was offered the role of design director, responsible for creating a ready-to-wear collection from zero.
After six years with the company, Buchanan stepped away to create Leflesh with Manuela Morin. Merging Victorianism and R&B, the brand exploded and made big waves in the media. Following his success, he moved to New York for a hot minute to work with iconic early 2000s stars JLo and Sean Combs. However, Italy won over his heart for a second time and he jetted back to Milan.
In 2009, after sending an email to friends asking about their favorite pieces of clothing, Edward launched his beloved knitwear brand Sansovino 6. An entirely genderless line made exclusively of knitwear, the successful brand is available in Europe, the US and Japan.
Currently working as a consultant under the moniker The Situation alongside managing director Alessio Lepore, Edward Buchanan shares words, wisdom and vision with companies such as Max Mara and Stefanel. His pragmatic nature shapes his creativity and we’re thrilled to learn more about him during this special Q&A with Tamu McPherson for the first Polimoda Rendez-Vous of November.
